Trains on your data by default?

Yes, unless you turn it off. ElevenLabs uses data you provide to improve its audio models; turn off “Improve the models for everyone” in Data use, and new data is no longer used.

No, by default. ElevenLabs says it does not train on Enterprise customers’ data except as needed to provide the service. Some Enterprise customers can also use Zero Retention Mode for eligible API requests.

How long chats are kept

ElevenLabs keeps personal information as long as it needs it to provide the service or as the law requires, then deletes or de-identifies it. It says it will not keep data it generates about your voice for more than 3 years after your last interaction.

Like other plans, unless Zero Retention Mode is on: then most data in eligible API requests and responses is deleted as soon as the request is done. It does not cover use through the website.

Safer setup for a small team

Turn off “Improve the models for everyone” on every account, and get written consent before cloning anyone’s voice.

Plan to approve: ElevenLabs with “Improve the models for everyone” off, or Enterprise
Setting to check: “Improve the models for everyone” off

A line for your AI policy: Staff use ElevenLabs only with “Improve the models for everyone” turned off. No customer recordings or voices are uploaded without written consent.
